DMCA / Copyright Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-04
CodeCortex Chat respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users of the Service to do the same. This page describes how copyright owners (or their agents) can notify us of alleged infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512, and equivalent provisions in other jurisdictions.
1. Filing a Takedown Notice
To file a notice of alleged infringement, send a written communication to our designated copyright agent:
CodeCortex DMCA AgentEmail: dmca@codecortex.co
Postal: CodeCortex, c/o DMCA, Tokyo, Japan
(Phone & physical address available on request.)
Your notice must substantially include the following (per 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)):
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorised to act on their behalf.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (or a representative list if multiple works).
- Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing, including the URL or other specific location on the Service where it appears.
- Your contact information, including full name, address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorised to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
2. Counter-Notification
If you believe that your content was removed or disabled in error, you may file a counter-notification with the same contact details above. The counter-notice must include: identification of the removed material and its location before removal; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed in error; your name, address, telephone, and email; your physical or electronic signature; and your consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district in which CodeCortex may be found).
3. Repeat Infringers
We will, in appropriate circumstances, terminate the access of users who are repeat infringers. Because the Service does not require accounts, “termination” may take the form of IP-level blocking.
4. AI-Generated Content & Copyright
Outputs produced by the language model served via OpenRouter are generated based on patterns learned during training and may, in rare cases, reproduce protected material. If you believe an AI-generated response infringes your copyright, follow the takedown procedure above. Upon receipt of a valid notice we will remove the offending output and review our system prompts to mitigate recurrence.
5. No Legal Advice
This page describes our internal process and does not constitute legal advice. Copyright owners should consult counsel to ensure their notice complies with all statutory requirements. Incomplete or non-compliant notices may delay processing.
6. Response Time
We aim to acknowledge valid DMCA notices within 3 business days and to process them within 10 business days. Complex cases may require additional time.
7. Policy on Misrepresentation
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing may be subject to liability. Do not file a notice unless you are the copyright owner or an authorised agent.
